I had a few extra pears from drying fruit, and I love using fruit in savory foods, so I decided to find a way to use them with the pork chops we had for dinner tonight. Pork chops are great on their own and this topping paired quite well! Delicious flavor and juiciness!
- 4 pork chops
- garlic powder
- 2 tbs butter
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 pears, chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- Heat balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan until boiling. Cook 10 minutes until reduced by half
- Heat the butter in a frying pan on medium-high heat. Add onions to pan and lightly brown. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions until lightly caramelized. Add chopped pears, vinegar, and salt. Stir until coated for 2 minutes.
- Liberally coat both sides of pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Grill or bake the pork chops however you prefer (I’ll post my favorite method of cooking pork chops sometime soon).
- Top with the pear mixture and serve.
